Wenger confirms that The Ox will play against Aston Villa (and he wants to win the FA Cup!) 4

Posted on January 27, 2012 by admin

Arsene Wenger has today confirmed that there is nothing wrong with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s calf (although the Arsenal boss still insists that he was suffering from fatigue when he took him off last week) and the 18 year-old will definitely be playing a part in this weekends FA Cup match against Aston Villa.

Wenger said: “He is alright, it was just fatigue. His calf was not gone or anything like that, he just started to tire a little bit. It is normal for a guy who plays a game at that intensity. But health-wise he has no problem. He will be involved on Sunday.”

Will Wenger Stand Between RVP And His Dream? 1

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger seems worried about the possibility of an injury occurring to Dutch striker Robin Van Persie before he can finish the year and stop fighting for the record.

Shearer’s 36 goal record has been in Robin’s mind and on everybody’s lips for quite a while now and Wenger’s afraid that the striker might make an obsession out of this and perhaps even get injured.

‘It will be a big demand for him, but I don’t know yet, we will assess the situation after every game,’’ said the manager.

Arsenal’s Dutch striker Robin Van Persie is raring to go against Aston Villa and refuses to be rested in the attempt to break Alan Shearer’s record of 35 goals in one single year of Premiership football. The Dutchman has 33 goals so far in 2011 and needs another 4 to break the record, but only has 3 games to get them

“We are a team who wants to respond quickly now and keep our spirit and determination,” said Wenger. “Then we have a bright future, but it’s important that if we keep that spirit and determination we can go from strength to strength.

Robin Van Persie blames the FA for Arsenal’s tight schedule 0

Robin Van Persie thinks that the FA scheduled the games weird for Manchester City and Arsenal and that this might affect both teams this season. The Dutch striker thinks that playing a game every 3 days can be tiring for any team and that they shouldn’t have to do that because their football will lack quality.

“Saturday’s game was our third in seven days, and that’s a lot of football,” he told Arsenal.com

“We had a tough game at Norwich in which we had to fight until the very last minute, while four days later we had an intense game against a very fit Borussia Dortmund side that kept us occupied right until the end. “
