Capoue is Arsenal’s main target as Mario Gotze rules himself out

Although there is still some time before the end of the season, there are lots of Arsenal transfer rumours in the papers lately. The Daily Express is claiming that Arsene Wenger tried hard to buy Etienne Capoue from Toulouse in January and believes that the French club will allow the defensive midfielder to finally move to the Emirates this summer.

Arsenal are definitely in need of a hard man in the middle and Capoue would certainly fit the bill for most Arsenal fans, but one player that EVERY Gooner would like to see at the Emirates is the German youngster Mario Gotze. But the Dortmund man has announced that he has no interest in joining Arsenal as he has bigger clubs in mind if he left Dortmund.

He said: ‘I am very happy at Dortmund and satisfied with the way we are progressing as a team. Any thoughts about playing for another team are very much for the future, but Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United could be interesting.’

There were recent rumours in Germany that Bayern Munich were heading the chase for Gotze, but it looks like all bets will have to be put on hold for another 12 months…..

Arsenal striker swap deal with Dortmund on the cards?

Arsenal’s swap deal with Borussia Dortmund seems to be on the cards, but a possible move will only occur after this summer’s EURO 2012.

The Gunners are looking to offload striker Nicklas Bendtner, and have been linked with many of Dortmunds players including Gotze, Kagawa, Kevin Grosskreutz and Lewandowski. The first one has been long linked with the Gunners, and Wenger has publically stated his interest in him, but a long contract with Dortmund will probably stop him from leaving.

At the moment it looks like Arsenal are much closer to signing Grosskreutz, who claimed that he’s looking forward to offers from a Premiership team. Bendtner also seems interested in leaving the Gunners for good, and said yesterday: “I have stated all the time that I am focused on the European Championship. When it is finished, I will handle my club situation,”

When asked about a link with Dortmund he added: “It’s a fantastic club, there are no doubts about that.”

Arsene Wenger is still looking for another striker, and either Lewandowski or Grosskreutz would be great additions for the squad, although Lewandowski seems to be the right kind of player Arsenal could really do with next season.

Who do you think should join?

Have Arsenal found a cheaper version of Hazard, Moura or Gotze?

Wenger Eyes Young Serbian Attacking Midfielder
Arsenal are reportedly eyeing another very talented young footballer, as MirrorFootball states that they have been keeping tabs on the 20-year-old Serbian youngster Adem Ljajic.

The talented Serbian international was very close to a move to Manchester United two seasons ago but he eventually joined Fiorentina. He did so because he couldn’t get a work permit in the UK, so he chose to go to the Italian team where he became a first team player almost instantly. The attacking midfielder managed to appear in 52 games and scored 4 goals for the Florence side.

Now after two very successful seasons in Italy, Arsenal’s French manager is ready to finally take him to the Premiership. Ljajic has managed to break into the senior national team at the age of 18 and has managed to feature in 6 games ever since.

Arsenal’s Wenger is looking for all sorts of solutions for his midfield problems, but Lille’s attacking midfielder Eden Hazard seems to be the best solution by a long way. Wenger was also keeping tabs on Monchengladbach’s Reus and Dortmund’s Gotze, but the first one signed with Borussia Dortmund, while the second one chose to extend his contract with the Bundesliga champions, so the Frenchman’s options are running scares now.

Brazilian playmaker Lucas Moura might still be an option, but it’s been said that Real Madrid are in for the attacking midfielder’s signature now which will more than likely inflate his price even more.

Despite being linked with all these big expensive stars, isn’t it more likely that Wenger will buy Ljajic?

Who Should Arsene Go For In The Summer?

There have been a lot of rumours linking several players to a move to Arsenal in the summer especially after the horrible season the Gunners seem to be having. Many fans blame the situation on Wenger and some blame it on the outgoings, but all of them agree that the players brought to the club weren’t good enough.

Players like Gotze, Podolski, Giroud, Hazard and M’Vila are only a very small few of those who have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

Arsenal’s manager is likely to go for a few of them but nobody can really tell who will be brought in. The situation at the club is becoming a bit weary and there’s a clear indicator that changes need to be made, but who do you think it would be best to join?

In my opinion the biggest problem the club faces at the moment is the midfield section where the likes of Rosicky and Ramsey ruin everything for the Frenchman. Sure Ramsey does catch a good match every now and then but otherwise he’s far from being Arsenal quality, so perhaps the best thing for Wenger to do is to transfer Gotze and perhaps M’Vila or Hazard. Any two of these three players would change the club’s face and would revive Arsenal’s brilliant spirit.

Wenger – We Won’t Transfer Any Midfielder

Arsenal’s manager seems to be unwilling to make any new transfers in January, and after he denied any centre-back transfer previously this week, now the Frenchman denied interest in any midfielder as well.

Arsene Wenger was quoted by The Mirror saying: “We won’t be in the winter market for any midfield positions considering that our players are back from injuries.”

This comes as a reply to all the rumours which were linking a bunch of top quality midfielders like M’Vila, Gotze, Reus or Hazard with the English club. Gotze and Reus seemed favourites to join the club in January, but now Wenger doesn’t seem to want that anymore.

Now this can be one of two things. Either the Professor wants to drive attention away from the possible targets so the transfer fee won’t reach enormous amounts until January, or he’s simply not interested in transferring any midfielder.

It’s true that Arsenal does have Wilshere coming back and Diaby regaining form, but Frimpong or Coquelin are not yet ready to face the Champions League at a high level if anybody else gets injured. What do you think?

Arsenal Outgoing and Incoming January Transfers

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger is likely to do a bit of a spring cleaning in January when the transfer market will be opening, and will look to sell some of the players which are no longer motivated enough at Arsenal.

Rosicky  is one who was often linked with a possible departure, but the French manager denied the rumours:

“Rosicky is at Arsenal and he remains at Arsenal,” Wenger said.

The most likely to leave Arsenal this January are Squillaci, Arshavin and Chamakh.

Chamakh is wanted by Bordeaux and PSG and is very likely to leave after he’s been forgotten on the bench ever since he can’t seem to bounce back into form.

Arshavin is wanted back “home” at Zenit and is frustrated about not getting a first team chance since Gervinho came at the club, and Squillaci is wanted by Sevilla. The centre-back got a bad injury and he only got Cup action ever since so he’s a certain departure in January.

The big question is not who leaves though, but who comes. Two attacking players are leaving so Wenger is likely to transfer at least one, full-backs also seem to be on the list and the biggest issue at Arsenal is who to transfer between Hazard, Gotze and Reus. What do you think?
