Rosicky and Mertesacker confirm new Arsenal contracts

Arsenal fans could do with a bit of good news after last weeks defeat to Stoke City, and we have been given a fillip before this weekend’s FA Cup match with the news that Thomas Rosicky and (the future Arsenal captain) Per Mertesacker have both signed new contracts with the club.

Rosicky is getting on a bit now but his performances make him look ten years younger, and he still has the enthusiasm of his younger days and says he won’t leave Arsenal until we win the Premiership title!

He said simply: “I want to win the league with Arsenal”.

WTF? Arsenal turnips going for an old Swede!! Is he top, top though?

It seems that the big transfer target for Arsenal today is Kim Kallstrom on loan. He’s currently at Spartak Moscow but appears to be on his way to Arsenal on loan for the remainder of the season. It’s been confirmed by most media outlets and the BBC’s Ornstein himself. Why are we trying to sign him?

He is 31 years old and had to be sold to Spartak because he was no longer good enough for Lyon in Ligue 1. He is even struggling to start for Spartak and yet he is somehow good enough to play for a team fighting for the title and playing in the Champions league. I’m not sure if he would even be available to play in Europe as Spartak qualified for the Europa League but were knocked out in the play-offs.

Team news and stats for Arsenal v Fulham

Our Arsenal Guns will be challenged by the Badgers at the Emirates later today. This Fulham side is sitting just 1 point from the relegation zone and has conceded ridiculous goals in every single match ever since Rene Meulensteen was appointed as Manager, giving us the higher edge with Arsenal’s newly found character in winning such fixtures and staying top of the league with 48 points after four league wins in succession.

Will Ramsey return offset other injuries for Arsenal?

Whilst many may believe that things aren’t quite going Arsenal’s way on the injury front at the moment, after the recent news regarding Theo Walcott and jokingly a certain Julian Draxler, there are some positives coming from the treatment table and it is that Aaron Ramsey could return for the Gunners this weekend.

As mentioned, it’s not too long ago since Arsenal and England winger Theo Walcott was ruled out for a sorry six months, in an injury that has caused a lot of concern and sympathy to be put towards the player. Injuries to Bendtner, Ramsey, Gibbs, Monreal and Arteta just to name a few have also forced the Gunners into massive starting line-up changes, however the good news is that many of those are near a return to match fitness.

Rosicky Rocks! Ozil in high praise of Arsenal teammate!

When it comes to Arsenal, it’s not often that the Gunners are aided by the help of an experienced player, with in fact very few players over the age of 30 playing considerably under the reign of Arsene Wenger. However, slowly things seem to be changing from Arsene Wenger’s inexperienced bunch of schoolboys to the correct balance in youth and experience that has also seen raw talent mix with world class quality.

How can Arsenal overcome latest injury crisis? Santon?

While Arsenal continue to fly high at the top of the Premier League table, it seems as though the dreaded injury curse has struck the North London side yet again. During the resilient victory over Aston Villa, Czech midfielder Tomas Rosicky suffered a broken nose as a result of an elbow from Gabby Agbonlahor while Spanish full-back Nacho Monreal is suspected to have a broken metatarsal in his foot.

Wenger has full faith in future value of Rosicky to Arsenal

When you think of Arsenal players, the general assumption is that they are young and inexperienced talents that have a lot of potential rather than the top quality experienced players that are coming to the latter stages of their career. And although we have started to move towards that a little bit more this season, with the team regularly featuring the likes of Sagna and Arteta who are both in their 30s, there still aren’t many players who retire with the Gunners.

Sagna scares Arsenal fans with exit talk!!

Arsenal have seen many players from their successful squad from the previous decade move on from the club, with Robin Van Persie being the last man that was a winner in the Arsenal squad. Such players like Theo Walcott, Tomas Rosicky and Bacary Sagna have all been with the club for quite some time now, however none of them have been successful with Arsenal as of yet and it’s a great shame considering their dedication to the club, especially the latter two who are coming towards the end of their respective careers.

Arsenal must use Youth and Experience to compete in Capital One Cup

Chelsea have beaten Manchester City 2 – 1 at Stamford Bridge thanks to once again another Joe Hart howler. Now they set their sights on the Capital One cup match against Arsenal at the Emirates. And although are going to play the second string, it will not be an easy game for Arsenal.

Even though Chelsea will be playing the game only two days after their previous game, they will still field a very menacing line up. The likes of Willian, Mata and De Bruyne didn’t even start for Chelsea today meaning that we can expect those three behind Eto’o. That’s how ridiculously good their squad depth is at the moment and that’s why I don’t think we can take them lightly. Without starting any of the same players, Chelsea can field a side like this:
