We are not privy to all the details of the deal between Arsenal and La Liga club Real Sociedad, but the bottom line is that the Spanish side now have full rights to the Mexican striker Carlos Vela, according to a report in The Express. We originally sold him to Sociedad for around £3 million last summer, after he spent a successful season on loan in San Sebastian, but Arsene Wenger cleverly included a buy back clause.
Carlos Vela left Arsenal under a bit of a cloud three years ago, with a history of annoying Arsene Wenger. (Remember when he turned up at airport for a Champions League game, but forgot his passport!) But now he thinks it is time for Arsenal to buy him back.
When asked about the Gunners buy-back option, the Mexican international said: “During the last two summers, Arsenal were not interested in activating it, so we had no trouble,”
“It makes sense they will activate the clause now. A club that sees that a player is performing well for three years and has the chance of having him back for just an extra million.
Arsenal’s former striker Carlos Vela has reportedly refused to close the door on a return to the Emirates. The Mexican striker left the Gunners for Real Sociedad in 2012 after spending the previous season on loan at San Sebastian. The transfer was worth 3 million Euros but Arsene Wenger was not sure if he was right letting Vela go, so he inserted a 4 million Euros buy back clause in the sale. The move has worked out for the 25-year has now scored 40 La Liga goals for Sociedad.
As announced on the clubs official website Arsenal.com, we have been seeded amongst four other teams in the Champions League qualifying round stage, which we will have to progress through to get to the group stage of next season’s European competition.
The draw isn’t till next week, but its already been made known that Arsenal have been seeded alongside Italian side AC Milan, German side Schalke, French side Lyon and Russian side Zenit, who Andrei Arshavin returned to this summer.
Arsenal could sign Carlos Vela back for as little as £3.5 Million because of a buy back clause that was included in his contract when he moved to La Liga club Real Sociedad. The Spanish club are one of the teams that Arsenal could face in the Champions League two legged play-off in August.
Vela has been an outstanding player at Sociedad and has been a major factor in the club getting into the Champions League. He scored 14 goals in 36 games for them last season but has been even more active in assists. For a striker, he does everything you can possibly need as he scores plenty of goals and creates chances for others around him.
The Spanish club Real Sociedad want to sign the Arsenal striker Carlos Vela, on a permanent basis. Vela played last season for Sociedad, and now the Spanish club want to sign him for good, after the Mexican international managed to score 12 goals and provide 8 assists in one year.
Carlos Vela has been on Arsenal’s books since 2005, but he has been on loan to four other clubs already and it seems he is not an important part of Arsene Wenger’s plans for the future.
