Arsenal keeping an eye on Barcelona’s Valdes – But Why?

Arsenal spent a long period of time searching for a goalkeeper this summer, as either a replacement or worthy competition for current club number one Wojciech Szczesny. The club failed to bring in any of the goalkeeping targets mentioned, in Real Madrid’s Iker Casillias, Lazio’s Federico Marchetti and Liverpool (now Napoli goalkeeper) Pepe Reina. Eventually we ended up signing Serie B side Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano on a season long loan on transfer deadline day, however the reports will not stop about Arsene Wenger’s determination to find a new keeper.

Would Krul be a good transfer move for Arsenal?

Krul linked to the Gunners!

As Arsenal continue their search for top quality signings this summer, one area they are aware they need to address is the goalkeeping position. So far we have had the likes of Lazio’s Federico Marchetti, QPR’s Julio Cesar and even Barcelona’s Victor Valdes linked with us, but the latest name off the conveyor belt of players to be linked with Arsenal is Newcastle’s Tim Krul.

The Daily Star reports upon speculation that has been spreading in shallow waters on the internet, and they state that Wenger will turn his attention to Krul, if a move for Cesar fails to materialise.

Arsenal planning transfer raid on Barcelona?

Normally when it comes to a transfer window the expectations of Barcelona being interested in one of Arsenal’s players is pretty much certain. They are like the Spanish Man City, who at one point seemed to be filling their team around players that they had bought from North London. But now the tables have turned and this summer, there seems to be a lot of interest coming from Arsene Wenger’s side when it comes down to transfers between the two clubs.

Is Valdes the right keeper for Arsenal?

It is being reported today in most of the major Spanish media outlets that Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is on his way to Arsenal this summer after telling Barcelona that he is leaving. Barcelona are thought to have a goalkeeper lined up to replace him although they are keeping their mouths shut on just who that will be.

It has been reported at different times over the last few months that Valdes is unhappy at Barcelona and Barcelona are unhappy with him because of numerous attempts to agree a new contract for the Spaniard that have gone wrong and resulted in the possible transfer.
