Thanks to Kanu Arsenal make brilliant midfielder summer transfer no.2

So it is two down for Arsenal in the transfer market this summer, and hopefully for us fans desperate for Arsene Wenger to make sure we do not go another year without a major trophy to celebrate, a few more to go.

The second Arsenal transfer since the end of last season has now been completed, as reported by the Evening Standard, with the player in question confirming via social media that he has signed a five year deal with the Gunners.

Kelechi Nwakali is the 18-year old Nigerian international who led his country to victory at the under 17 World Cup in Chile last year and was voted the player of the tournament. Very highly rated, the young midfielder has been the target of top clubs around Europe including Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Man City.

Apparently Arsenal owe a big debt of thanks to our former striker Nwankwo Kanu for Nwakali choosing Arsenal and it was Kanu that travelled with the youngster when he came to London to sign for the club. The agreement was made a few months ago and one of his Nigerian international team mates was going to come as well but that one seems to have fallen through.

But Nwakali was the real prize and as soon as he turned 18 last week the formalities were completed.

The player said, “I just came back from London, I have signed a five-year contract with Arsenal.

“So many teams were interested in me but it has been my dream at a tender age to play for Arsenal.”

Welcome to Arsenal Kelechi! COYG!
