Theo Walcott admits he has been out of form but vows to improve

The Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has been roundly criticised by the Arsenal fans lately for being mostly anonymous as the Gunners lost three League games in a row, and he says he doesn’t need the fans to tell him when the quality of his play drops as he knows it himself.

He said: “I just want to play my game and show people what I can do,”

“I am the best judge of my performance, not anyone else. I wasn’t happy with my last few games but hopefully now I can try to get back to a level I should be at.

“I think it was a good thing that it was the FA Cup on Sunday, it’s totally different to the Premier League. I think we needed a slight break.

Walcott managed to get on scoresheet, even if he didn’t have much to do with the lucky deflection, but any goal (and any win) will hopefully improve his confidence for the weeks ahead. He thinks that the comeback will now convince the team that they can now go on and win the trophy at Wembley.

He concluded: “It’s a cup competition that we can win, a couple of big teams have gone out in the early stages and if we can come from 2-0 down, hopefully we can beat anybody now. Hopefully we can just show the fans and our team-mates that everyone is ready now and that we can win this.”

Bring it on Theo, it’s about time we saw some of your “early promise” translated into a few more goals.
