It does not happen very often in football these days because handing in a transfer request is kind of a last resort, but Arsenal will be pleased that the Barcelona and Spain international forward Pedro Rodriguez has apparently done just that, according to a Daily Express report.
The paper claims that the news comes from Spain after the 27-year old finally accepted that with Lionel Messi, Neymar and now Luis Suarez means that his playing opportunities are likely to be even fewer this season. And the Catalan club also has two new strikers in Sandro and Munir El Haddadi coming through from their La Masia academy, just as Pedro himself did.
So if Pedro has decided to put in a transfer request, it means he is desperate to leave and suggests that he is aware that there is a club ready to sign him in January. All rumours point to that club being Arsenal, so it looks like the Gunners’ already pacy and dangerous attacking line up will soon have a new member.
