Arsenal’s striker Robin Van Persie admitted that winning ugly is much better than not winning at all, but also said that the team which plays the most beautiful football is Barcelona and that he’s somewhat of a fan.
Now this may be a problem for Gunner fans who already lost a few of their most favourite players to the Catalan club, and Robin didn’t yet accept a contract extension.
“Nobody can play beautiful football all the time.”
“When that happens I tell our lads ‘If it’s not happening for you, just try to kill off the game so we can move on’.
“I am still a lover of the beautiful game and always will be but I have become more realistic.
“It is too romantic to think that you can win matches by playing beautiful football alone.
“Barcelona are the exception — and I have to admit they and Arsenal are the only teams that I often watch on TV.”
Robin still has a contract running until the summer of 2013, but European clubs are watching Premiership’s top goal scorer intensely and they will certainly attempt to transfer him. Do you think Van Persie will be persuaded to accept a move?
