Van Persie – I was wrong to question Wenger’s decision

The Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie has made it clear that his unhappy reaction to Arsene Wenger substituting Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on Sunday was a mistake, as he wasn’t aware of the youngster’s injury and also that he should simply have accepted the the decision and bowed to Wenger’s superior knowledge of the situation.

All Arsenal players they know they might as well play bingo online for money than try and win an argument against Le Boss, and Van Persie has issued a very long apology in an article in the Sun.

He said: “LET me start by putting the record straight.

“I was not having a go at the boss on Sunday — I was just sad to see Alex leave the pitch as he just gave the assist for our only goal.

“I was not questioning his judgment — I know it’s not my place to challenge what Arsene Wenger does.

“He is the boss, he makes the decisions and that’s it… end of story.

“I have worked with the boss long enough to know there’s always a good reason behind his decisions — and there was again on Sunday.

“When Arsene makes a decision, it is based on a lot of information that everyone else might not know about and he will never betray.

“I admire him so much for that.

“As he said after the game, he doesn’t have to explain his substitutions to anyone.

“He was right to remind everyone that he has been in the job 30 years and made 50,000 substitutions — why on earth should he have to justify each and every one of them?

“He has all the information, he knows when a player is carrying a small injury, or has been ill, or is tiring.

“Arsene’s remarkable success in the game is proof enough that his decisions are made from knowledge and experience.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had a calf injury.

“We did not know that but the boss did and brought Andrey Arshavin on.

“I have a lot of respect and admiration for Arsene Wenger.

“He is one of the best football coaches in the world, with a brilliant record of success here at Arsenal.

“I wouldn’t be here or the player I am without him.

“The manager and I are fine and my relationship with the club is good.

“I don’t want anyone misunderstanding the situation here for a moment.

“There is no problem, there is no conflict and there is no controversy. The boss knows that, I know that, the players all know that.

“But it’s important the Arsenal fans know that and that people in the game know that.”

Okay Robin, we get the picture, and I admire your concerted attempt to set things right with your manager, but I still don’t believe that you will sign a new contract at the end of the season…….

  1. As an arsenal fan, am very sorry also, because i never knew that he had an injury before i started complaining on that substitution.I sincerely express my apology to arsene wenger.

  2. Pls wenger, try to sign defence line and straker for us before the end of window transfer.

  3. vanPersie only said that to clear the air. The truth is he was against the decision and in my opinion he was right, and so was every arsenal fan that booed. The fact that wenger has made over 50,000 subs does not mean he has never made a mistake. He made that mistake on sunday.

  4. He just said about the substitution incident not about his contract lol….does not mean if he admire the manager he will last longer at Emirates, same case like Henry he respect the boss very much and loves the club too but he need to go because he need to win champions league that arsenal cannot afford to do it before he retired..Does not mean he leave because he frustrate being at Arsenal.. I guess it is same situation RVP is facing now, he loves Arsenal very much and I remember he quotes he will never image that he win something with other team

  5. Arsene is a historical busting success but a present and future failure. He should pack and go. D players are no longer motivated by him. Der’s no improvement from dem cos d manager can’t back his decision wit result. Wit him arsenal has got nothing.
