After a famous win at Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has called on his side to repeat the same performance when his high-flying Gunners side travel to Old Trafford to face reigning Premier League champions Manchester United on Sunday.

The North London side pulled off an unlikely victory at the Signal Iduna Park and became the first team to breach Dortmund’s perfect home record this season, producing a seemingly faultless performance. Ahead of the trip to Manchester, Arsene Wenger has called for a similar display from his team as the Gunners try to extend their lead over the Red Devils to 11 points.

Arsenal are already five points clear at the summit of the Premier League and Wenger remains confident they can stay there. Speaking after the win over Dortmund, the French manager said: “It strengthens the belief of my team that we can put another great performance in another massive game on Sunday. We want this kind of performance again.”

As if the victory over Liverpool at the weekend was not enough, the Gunners will be given a further confidence boost after becoming the first ever English side to win at the stadium hailed as the ‘Yellow Fortress’. Personally, I believe the team can beat United at Old Trafford if they produce a performance even half as good as the one at the Westfalenstadion, Borussia Dortmund are really that good, while United this season are not.

Furthermore, Arsenal are also likely to get positive news on the injury front as English winger Theo Walcott is expected to return to the squad for the trip to Manchester, though he’s likely to be on the bench. Playing United at Old Trafford is never an easy prospect, but if Arsenal continue this red hot run of form, we can expect another three points in the bag.
