Wenger chasing giant free-agent defender
It is being reported this morning that Arsene Wenger has got his eye on the giant Brazilian defender Douglas Franco Teixeira, who currently plys his trade at FC Twente in Holland.
The ex-England manager Steve McClaren has just returned to the Eredvisie side where he won the Dutch Championship in his last spell, and he is hoping to persuade the 6ft 4in centre-back to stay in Holland.
But with just six months left on his contract Douglas is now free to talk to foreign sides about a Bosman summer move so it is little surprise that Wenger is taking an interest.
Sebastien Squillaci is expected to leave the Emirates very shortly leaving space for another top defender, and Douglas is rated one of the best in Holland at the moment.
Although Douglas hasn’t played for the Brazil national side, he is now free to play anywhere in Europe having just acquired a Dutch passport a few months ago, and he can expect a much better wage at Arsenal if he arrives on a free transfer in the summer.
He won’t come this transfer period. He wants to play for the dutch national side and that is only possible if he stays another couple of months in holland .
Sad rumour
No wonder he is jumping at him its a FREEBIE let’s hope he can play as I dnt know him
He s a good defender. I see every match from him as i am from twente , holland
6 month left in is contract if he is good somany club will be fighting to have him by now.another Sebastien Squillaci .
is this rumour true?
Siya and beeman,u re ignorant. Arsenal fans now want Demba Ba but forget he was a free agent at west ham. Had arsene gone for him, your likes would ve insulted him for going for a free agent. Wat makes you think cos he’s free,he is another squillaci? How re you sure arsenal is interested in him? Fools.
May be if its a free transfer then Wanger can admitt!
i go wit u micnic, when player is a free agent and lots of clubs are not jostling 4 them does’nt mean dey r nt gud enough…… ba is a gud example
More of that from the boss, maybe try leaving a nice legacy before u go to madrid.Djourou, squillaci, arshavin should go their way.
