Wenger Delighted To Have Fit Full-backs

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that club full-back Bacary Sagna may take part of the Sunday match against Aston Villa.

With Villa set to give the Gunners a hard time, it may be the perfect venue for Sagna to get a taste of action after being sidelined for the whole first half of the season.

“Bacary is back in full training,” Wenger told Arsenal.com “Many players who are not specialist right-backs have been playing in this position so we are relieved to have him back.”

“At the moment, many players are on their way back,” said Wenger. “I’ll have to look at them and see how much of a gamble I can take because we play again on Wednesday.

“(Kieran) Gibbs will certainly not be involved at all on Sunday, but the others could be involved. That will be decided before the game.”

Wenger still needs to recover a left-back in order to be sure he has a full working back 4, but he could still rely on Vermaelen to do a good job until Gibbs will be back and then when Santos recovers the true fight will be on for the left-back position.

  3. Why cant you selll the rubbish “talent” you have and buy good players? That way we would have enough dept to compete for all competitions….

  4. Great news about Sagna.

Yes, when Gibbs and Santos return, we can see Vermaelen/Mertesacker rotated. Koscielny needs to start every game. He has been out best centre-half all season, even better than Vermaelen when he’s [layed a central role this season.

Mertesacker is an excellent centre half too, so he must get games. Djourou in the centre is ok for back-up … I’ve seen some wanting his head because he’s crap when played out of position, as right full back for example.

Carl Jenkinson has been sorely missed. This lad is a great addition to the team.
