The next four weeks or so could be crucial to Arsenal Football Club, as we try to ensure another top four finish in the Premier League as well as defending the FA cup trophy and trying to go further in the Champions League than in recent years.
With Arsene Wenger having had to muddle through with more injury problems than is normally seen at an Accident and Emergency on new years eve, the January transfer window gives the Frenchman a great chance to solve some of the problems that have caused the first half of the season to be more of a struggle than anyone expected.
And as revealed in an ESPN report, the Arsenal boss has given a strong hint about his transfer plans. And while Wenger suggested that the Gunners have plenty of options in the attacking and creative sides of the squad, he thinks that central midfield is in need of strengthening. Could that mean the defensive midfielder that so many Arsenal fans have been calling for for so long?
Wenger said, “To buy just to buy is not what we want to do, but if the right opportunity turns up we will do it. There is a need there, but the right opportunity has to come up.
“If you look at the number of games some players played and the injuries we have with Wilshere, Ramsey and Arteta, we are a bit short at the moment in midfield.
“”Offensively we have many options – too many to keep everyone involved with the right number of games, that is for sure.”
Which midfielder is the right man? And who else do you want Wenger to target?
