Wenger needs to talk to Hoffenheim for young star midfielder

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is looking high and wide for talented midfielders, and the Frenchman has reportedly eyed one of Swansea’s most promising players this season, Gylfi Sigurdsson. The 22-year-old had an amazing season scoring 6 times in 11 games from midfield, but Arsenal’s will have to try and persuade his home club to let him go as he is only at loan at the Swans.

The midfielder is on loan from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, and according to him despite the intense interest he’s been getting there’s nothing he can do about the situation given his two years left of contract with the German side.

“I still have a couple of years left on my contract at Hoffenheim, so there is not much I can do at the moment,” said Sigurdsson.

“It’s out of my hands.”

Wenger’s search for top midfielders will surely continue as the Frenchman wants to avoid another season like this one when he had virtually no reserve options in the midfield after Jack’s injury and Fabregas’ and Nasri’s leaves.

The midfield section is likely to get weaker before it will have a chance to get stronger, as Ramsey’s place at Arsenal is not looking too secure after what was a horrible string of performances for the Welsh midfielder this season except for some occasional good games.
