Wenger taking NO CHANCES with strongest Arsenal XI v Reading

Arsene Wenger has made a habit during his time in charge of Arsenal Football Club of using the two domestic cup competitions to give some valuable playing time and experience to some of the squad, including young players breaking through from the academy, older stars that may not be starting regularly and those that are coming back from injury.

But if the likes of Tomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby, Calum Chambers and all were hoping that this would be the case against Reading at Wembley tomorrow, it looks like they are going to be disappointed, according to the manager´s pre-match interview reported on the Arsenal website.

The Frenchman said, “It’s not a game that I look at as an opportunity for some individual players, it’s just an opportunity to go to the final. I will pick the team that, in my opinion, has the best chance to win the game.

“I’m concerned about finding a collective balance. That can include some of these players or not, but honestly, I haven’t decided who will start the game on Saturday.

“Everybody feels that it’s difficult to get in the team. All the players have top, top quality. Of course it’s difficult for me as well to make these kind of decisions.

“You do not ask anybody to understand that he doesn’t play because they all deserve to play. They have to accept it and to respect the decision, that’s what you want from the players.”

It´s good to know that the manager is taking no chances on this crucial FA cup semi-final as it represents the Gunners´ best chance of silverware. We also need to avoid anything stopping the great momentum in the side at the minute to have any chance of adding the Premier League trophy to the FA cup.

  1. Wenger must select the strongest team possible. How embarrassing it would be to be knocked out by Reading especially in a semifinal through stupid blunders, defensive errors or a lucky penalty. COYG…….!!!!!!!
