Wenger – Van Persie and Henry have a good understanding

Arsene Wenger believes that, despite Thierry Henry being signed to give some competition to Robin Van Persie for the next two months, the two Arsenal strikers are quite happy with the situation.

Van Persie was given a holiday abroad this week while Chamakh and Henry both played against Leeds, and Wenger is hoping that he will come back refreshed and ready to fight for Arsenal in the second half of the season.

“Robin was happy when Thierry joined us,” Wenger said. “but what we expect of him now is to continue the goalscoring record he delivered in 2011 and hopefully be ready for another fight.”

“I gave Robin a breather against Leeds because he is under more pressure than anybody else because of his injury history and because he played more games than anybody else in 2011.

“It is good because Van Persie and Henry have a good understanding. It is like having two goalkeepers when they have a good understanding, which is not always the case because most of the time they are rivals.”

They are both mature individuals simply wanting the best for Arsenal, which is very good to see (although I bet Van Persie enjoyed his holiday!) but now they have to get back to business against Swansea. I think that Wenger should play them for 45 minutes each in that game, then play them both against Man Utd.

Maybe Henry could start on the left wing and then they could swap around during the game? What do you think?

  1. I think, it’s good 4 wenge 2 play rvp up front as usual. And play henry at the wing, he can start with walcott, and finish with henry. Or more prefferable 2 start henry at the wing atlondside rvp. Then at some minute 2go he can now change him 4 walcott, or play walcott and henry at the both wings at thesame time. Wish them best of luck.

  2. I think arsene should play both of them and if gervino wAs here it would have been even better.I would like to see them get back at man u.

  3. Rvp should play the entire 90mins while Henry can play from the bench. He can be introduced b/w 65 and 70mins of play. Wenger should play Ox from bench .

  4. Despite of bringing in Henry, but still I think we are not yet put ourselve where we can be considered as Title Contender. Mr Wenger must bring in tested players, rather than going for unknowns
