Wenger – Walcott injury is good news for England

Arsene Wenger thinks that the small hamstring injury that Theo Walcott sustained in Arsenal’s draw with Chelsea last week could actually work out as a good omen for the England team ahead of the Euro2012 tournament.

England are currently around 9/1 fourth favourites for the competition (US-based readers should check this link for a Bodog referral number) and Wenger believes their chances are now improved as Walcott has had a nice little rest!

The French coach was asked whether Walcott could play again this season, and he replied: “For the Euros, he is definitely available,”

“It is a minor injury – not as big as we thought it was. He has a small chance to play in the last game against West Brom. He won’t play against Norwich – but for the Euros, there is no doubt.

“I think in fact the injury of Walcott is good news for England because he just has a little rest. He had enough competition and now he has a little rest before going there so he should be in a good frame of mind and physically fit.

“He has had his best season yet,” Wenger added. “He gets criticism because he raises the level of expectation so much that when he has a disappointing game or doesn’t make the difference, people straight away go at him because they expect something special.

Could it be that Walcott is finally ready to fulfil that promise that all Arsenal fans have been waiting for all this time? If so perhaps we should listen to Wenger and have a little bet on England to win the Euros…..
