Wenger´s Arsenal surprise team confuse Conte´s Chelsea?

1

Judging from the way that Arsenal have been lining up of late the question that Antonio Conte would have been most concerned with as he prepared his table topping Chelsea side for this big London derby clash with the Gunners was probably who would be whether Arsenal would start with Olivier Giroud or Danny Welbeck as centre forward.

So the Italian may have been surprised to see that Arsene Wenger has left both of these in form strikers on the bench and gone back to the formation that worked so well when we beat the Blues at the Emirates back in September, with Alexis Sanchez through the middle and Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott on either side.

Cech
Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal
Coquelin, Oxlade-Chamberlain
Iwobi, Walcott, Ozil
Alexis

Subs: Ospina, Gabriel, Maitland-Niles, Reine-Adelaide, Welbeck, Giroud.

Will this slightly surprising Arsenal team get the better of our title rivals?

  1. I think this team list is ok. For those raising hell about the absence of Perez, I dare say Perez is good, no doubt (from his few cameos). But I honestly do not think he’s accumulated the pedigree to replace either of our two wide men for today’s game. Neither does he yet have the pedigree to replace Welbeck or Giroud on the bench… and he’s not defensive-minded enough to take the place of Niles or Adelaide despite the green color of their horns.
