Wenger’s Arsenal XI to face Chelsea with NO Alexis Sanchez

I am pretty sure that the Arsenal and Chile international star will feature at some point in today’s Community Shiled clash with Chelsea at Wembley stadium, especially as the striker has a fantastic record at the stadium, winning all six of his games with either the Gunners or his national side, but I do not think Arsene Wenger will risk him from the start today.

Even if he is as fit as the boss has said in the pre-match build up I think he will err on the side of caution because once Alexis is on the pitch he will give his all and will not want to come off. It is not as if Wenger does not have good options in the Arsenal squad either and I think he will give the summer signing Alexandre Lacazette a chance to impress and gain more time with his new teammates.

I would like to see Giroud in from the start as well but think the manager will keep him to use as a super sub if needed, so I think the front three will be Lacazette, Ozil and Welbeck ahead of Walcott because of his work rate and physical presence.

Cech should start in goal and I would go with a back three of Koscielny, Monreal and Chambers and with a midfield of Kolasinac, Ramsey, Xhaka and either Bellerin or Chamberlain, making the Arsenal team look like this:

Cech
Chambers, Koscielny, Monreal
Chamberlain, Ramsey, Xhaka, Kolasinac
Welbeck, Lacazette, Ozil

Will this be the team? Will Arsenal follow on from the FA cup final with another win over Chelsea at Wembley?

  1. Arsenal, can win the match if the talent of OX is put to use today. I love seeing Hector play though I think in the field of wing backs he shouldn’t come before OX.
