Arsene Wenger has suggested that the way for Abou Diaby to resurrect his Arsenal career is to alter his approach to the game slightly, become more disciplined and help the Gunners to fill that difficult defensive midfield gap. But unless the French midfielder has a serious change of luck and his body suddenly becomes able to take regular games, it is not going to be enough for Arsenal.

So when the January transfer window opens, unless Diaby has shown he is able to play week in week out and do the DM job well, Wenger could finally turn to the transfer market to solve the problem and there seem to be two main candidates.

According to The Mirror, one of them is the young French starlet Adrien Rabiot from PSG. The 19-year old is a real talent, with all the abilities to shine in central midfield. That is why the French champions are trying to get him to sign a new deal, but his lack of opportunities in their star studded squad is making him delay. Apparently, January will be the cut off point where PSG will sell him unless he signs.

The other possible transfer according to The Mirror is the Real Madrid star Sami Khedira, who will be able to sign a pre-contract in January but also could be sold by Madrid as they face losing him for nothing in the summer. I am confident that a decent bid, around £10 million, would be enough to get him as long as he does not decide to stay.

Which, if any, of these two do you think Arsenal will sign in January?

  1. Rabiot is not DM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He’s a b2b player! I’m French, I know Rabiot, and Arsenal doesn’t need this kind of player, WE NEED CARVALHO and 1 CB.

Khedira can come next July for free.
