There have been Arsenal transfer rumours linking us with the Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o ever since it was announced that Chelsea would not be giving the striker another crack at the Premier League. He was officially released by the Stamford Bridge club on May 23rd and is available on a free transfer but has not decided where to go next, at least not officially.

The 33-year old has suggested, though, as a Talksport report reveals, that he would like to stay in England and I think that Arsene Wenger could do much worse than sign him up for a season. No transfer fee and the wages would not be too bad, for a proven striker who scored nine goals in 21 Premier League matches last season sounds like a great opportunity to me.

The major plus point of this move, in my opinion, is that the Gunners would not be getting a player simply going through the motions and picking up his salary as his career draws to a close. We would be getting a proud professional who was stung by the criticism of Jose Mourinho and so has something to prove, especially if he got the chance to face his former club. And having such a top striker at the club would surely help the other strikers to hone their craft in training. What do you think?
