Will Giroud still be Arsenal’s main striker this season?

8

Giroud has been one of the most criticized players for Arsenal in recent times. Bought in the summer of 2012 to replace Robin Van Persie, Giroud had huge boots to fill, especially when Van Persie came off a 37 goal season. Giroud had a relatively decent first season, finishing with 17 goals and 12 assists. It was no doubt a far cry from Van Persie’s standards but still commendable for a striker’s first season in English football. However, he was still criticized throughout the whole season, mainly on being slow and not able to finish chances. What is being neglected is how well he was able to link up Arsenal’s offense very well, allowing Arsenal to have a more balanced and diversified attack.

He followed up this effort with a 22 goal season and there were so many instances where his footballing brain was able to allow Arsenal to score some quite spectacular goals. Examples would be Wilshere against Norwich and Rosicky against Sunderland.

My gut feeling is that we should stick with Giroud. He has proven himself to be one of the strongest forwards in the league, outmuscling center halfs in the league week in, week out. He has also improved as a finisher and with pace on both falnks with Alexis and Theo, he will certainly flourish even more.

He may not be the quickest striker but his style of being a traditional centre-forward will come as a surprise to many teams and I sincerely believe he is the man spearhead Arsenal’s hunt for major honours this coming season.

What do you guys think about Giroud?

  1. A big disaster for us…..I just wonder why Podolski is not given enough trust n playing time like the wasteful Giroud who can never help us against stronger Teams. “Its a Petty”

    I would rather use (Podolski n Sanchez) or Sanchez + Podo + walcott/Campbell in a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 formation.

Giroud 4 mi is a “Joke of a Striker”

Well, if he`s not what are we going to do with him? Play him at full back, centre half or in goal? I can`t imagine him flying down the wing so he`ll just have to get his act together and net the one`s he missed last season.

  4. I don’t know what is wrong with wenga to me oliver is not the Cain strike that we need in arsenal teen we need a strike that can finished ball from any angle just like matines or balotli or poldosky not a stupid player like oliver furck giroud furck wenga

  5. I think Wenger wnts us 2 continue swearing @ Giroud. We’ll lose Ozil if his passes dnt bring enuf goals cos of Giroud…wenger thinks Sanchez wud do as a striker.Baloteli is beggin 2 com…Wenger is actin funny.*lets drop 4rm 1st 2 4th again cos we cnt score enuf+ see how we lose players*.

  6. Giroud is gonna bang nt less dan 40 goals and 15 assits in all competition next season. Oh ma God ah ma 2 aggressive?

  7. Giroud is the most lazzyiest forward I have ever watch in my life, he simply causally jogs around, whilst the rest of his team mates have to work twice as hard. Wenger is an idiot to have so much faith in such a useless striker. Arsenal will not make the top four this season if giroud is going to lead the team in attack
