It seems like it is a Premier League feeding frenzy at poor old Southampton at the minute, and it looks like Arsenal are about to get in on the act. To be honest, I feel sorry for their fans, but the owners have changed and the new people do not seem to have the same football philosophy as the previous lot and seem to be wrecking the club after all the hard work it took to get them back from the brink.

Anyway, enough about the poor unfortunate Saints, I want to hear more about the soon to be wildly successful Arsenal. The two players that Arsene Wenger could soon be grabbing from St. Mary’s are two of their defensive lynchpins. Morgan Schneiderlin is the French defensive midfielder that anchors their team and protects the back four. The Frenchman has all but declared, in a Sky Sports report, that he is leaving the Saints and seems to know where he is going as well.

Schneiderlin said, “Listen, I’m aware of Southampton’s situation.

“On a personal level, the club know my position and know what I want to do. I had a good conversation with all the directors.

“I’ve been there for a long time now. We’ll see how things go, but the directors know my position and what my intentions are.

“Everyone has ambitions, everyone has his own future in his hands, so we’ll see. Every player wants to play on big occasions.”

Dejan Lovren is their defensive rock at the centre of the back four. According to the Daily Star, Wenger has identified the 24-year old Croatian international as the man to replace club captain Thomas Vermaelen, but he will have to see off interest from Liverpool and Tottenham to do so.

I think both of these players would be good signings for Arsenal and neither would cost too much. Go for it Arsene!!
