Young French International Admits Interest In Arsenal

French young star Benjamin Mendy has declared that the interest coming from Premiership giants Arsenal was true and that manager Arsene Wenger is interested in his services.

Being an important part of the French national team which made it to the quarter finals at the U-17 World Cup, the 17-year-old full-back would be delighted about a possible move to the Premiership but wants to perfect his skills first with a couple of years in the French League 1.

“There was interest from a lot of clubs. I know Arsenal were one,” he said. “But I have a sensible head on my shoulders. I am still living at the education centre here with my friends who play for the reserves. I have not changed.

“After Le Havre, I would like to spend two seasons in Ligue 1 and then go to England. I would then like to go to Barcelona, where my idol Dani Alves plays.”

Arsene Wenger has also stated that the club might favour a move for a young full-back who might be an asset for the team on the long run instead of bringing a full-back on loan and only use it a few times until his loan expires in the summer. Do you think that Mendy has the chance to become a valuable asset for Arsenal?
