Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger is now tracking Barcelona’s left-back Eric Abidal after rumours have appeared that the Catalan club and the French defender are not reaching an agreement on a contract extension.
The Frenchman’s agent, David Venditelli declared that although a contract offer was send by Barcelona, Abidal is not yet satisfied with it.
‘We want a permanent contract without variables. Not because of economic issues but more to show recognition and confidence in Abidal,’ he told COM Radio.
‘Although they have behaved exceptionally with us, we are entitled to have our desires on the new contract.
‘We have a very good relationship with the club, but we have not yet found the solution. It is true that as time passes, the risk increases of Abidal leaving Barcelona.’
If Abidal will choose to leave Barcelona he has a load of teams trailing him, but the most probable destination would be the English premier League. Manchester United and Arsenal are now looking to snatch the player from Barca.
