The whole Arsenal team produced a much better performance against Stoke City yesterday than we had been surprised to see before the international break. So there were plenty of candidates for the Man of the Match award in the Arsenal team.

The defence was not overly taxed but when called on were on hand to deny the visitors any clear cut chances and Petr Cech was sharp and alert when they did produce a rare attempt on goal. Coquelin was a beast in the middle again, while Cazorla, Ozil, Ramsey, Bellerin and Monreal really had the ball moving with precision and penetration.

And both of our under fire options at centre forward scored good goals, so it might seem strange that I have picked Alexis Sanchez as the stand out player. The Chilean did not score or claim an assist and I am sure that the stats will not back me up, but stats do not tell all and Alexis was brilliant yesterday.

He did come very close to scoring and was at the heart of everything we did. Once he gets off the mark I think the goals will flow for the brilliant forward but what he gives to the team is just as important. Do you agree that he was our best player?
