According to the latest reports regarding Arsenal’s hunt for Real Madrid players, Angel Di Maria is subject to a 30 million euro bid from the Gunners, which translates to the asking price of around £25 million. Di Maria has been linked alongside his fellow club teammate Karim Benzema as being Arsenal’s top target for now; however as an initial enquiry for Benzema was greeted with rejection, Wenger has since turned complete focus upon Di Maria in the hope that he can sign up at least one superstar this transfer window.

With Gareth Bale soon set to make his move to Madrid official, the Spanish club need to make room for the Welshman and with nobody able to displace Cristiano Ronaldo, it is obvious that it would be Di Maria that would lose his place in the starting eleven and in a world cup year, that isn’t something that can happen. So the Argentine is on the lookout for a new club, but will Arsenal be enough to convince him.

The report comes from Pro Madrid paper Marca, who also have a famous website in Marca.com. They reported that Arsenal have made the opening bid of 30 million euros, whilst we have also enquired over Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas. The goalkeeper who has been associated with Real Madrid all of his career has lost his place in the team and so like Di Maria he too could be looking to the exit door, however I feel the latter move is extremely unlikely.

In fact I don’t even feel confident of landing Di Maria because I’m sure there will be many other clubs interested in the player because of his availability so what makes you think that this time it will be different and Arsenal will beat off our opposition.

It’s an ambitious move from Arsene Wenger and I hope we do sign Di Maria because he oozes quality and despite his slightly controversial character, I’m sure that’s something Wenger could sort out.

7 days to go Arsenal fans!

  1. Why not spend such huge amount of dollars to sign a world-class striker rather than a wide man

  2. Arsenal will find it hard to attract world class players…the club is in a fix, they cannot afford to pay high wages to top top players like other big clubs in europe & definitely they can’t attract world class talents because they can’t win trophies,so what will attract the big names…attractive football?,is not enough…i can only see arsenal attract a little bit above average players if they don’t restructure the clubs policies.
