I hope that I am wrong about this but I get the feeling that Arsene Wenger and the Arsenal players might be taking their eyes off the ball a little bit. Maybe it is because the Gunners did the double over tomorrow’s opponents Hull City in the Premier League last season, scoring five goals without reply, but it is a dangerous game to play.

Complacency has a habit of bouncing back and biting you on the bum, so I think it is important for the manager to make sure his players do not take Steve Bruce and his team for granted. After all, if it was not for a stunning free kick from Santi Cazorla at Wembley in May, Arsenal were in danger of choking in the FA cup final and extending the wait for a major trophy to 10 years.

What makes me think that Wenger may be already have one eye on the trip to Belgium to face Anderlecht on Wednesday is an Arsenal.com report where the Frenchman talks about the Champions League game without mentioning Hull. I have also seen an article where Jack Wilshere talks about the cup final and how he always thought we would win it even after conceding two early goals.

There is no doubt that Arsenal should beat Hull tomorrow, even with out injury depleted squad, but the players need to put in the hard yards and not think about saving themselves for midweek. Because if Arsenal fail to win tomorrow it will be a disaster and then we will travel to Belgium with confidence ruined and that would make the game even harder. Just focus on the job at hands please lads.
