It might seem to the Arsenal fans out there this summer that Arsene Wenger is once again doing very little for the club in the summer transfer window but I think there is no need for us to panic as the Frenchman has proved in recent years that he is not afraid to spend big money.

And with some key signings in the shape of Petr Cech, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, the boss appears to have got his edge back. Also, there is a good reason why the Gunners have not done as much business as many of our Premier League rivals, at least not yet.

For one thing we do not need to. Maybe not Chelsea, but Liverpool, Tottenham and both Manchester clubs United and City have a lot of squad sorting out to be done. Arsenal are almost there and I think the only thing stopping Wenger completing the transfer of the few players we need, is the need to make space in the squad first.

That will soon be done according to a report in The Mirror, with six players set for the exit door. Carl Jenkinson and perhaps Yaya Sanogo will go out on loan, while Podolski, Campbell, Ospina and Flamini are set to be sold. Then we should see Wenger hit the transfer market hard…
