It is getting beyond a joke for Arsenal now! We get Olivier Giroud back early and Laurent Koscielny back in the squad just in time for them to be replaced by even more Gunners and it has been like this since the start of last season.

Including Abou Diaby, who Arsene Wenger denied having a new injury but is clearly still not fit enough to play, the Gunners now have 10 players on the injury list. Two of those, Mikel Arteta and Yaya Sanogo, joined it last night and with Ozil, Walcott, Welbeck, Wilshere, Debuchy, Szczesny and Ospina already out of action, it leaves the manager with a massive headache, as he made clear in his post match words reported by The Guardian.

Wenger said, “The injury situation is a problem because we have many games and we lost two players tonight. The first one is Arteta, who again has a calf problem and that looks quite serious, and we lost Sanogo as well on a hamstring problem. Wilshere sees a specialist, finally and we’ll know more on Thursday night.”

Arsenal could certainly do with some good news from the scan on Wilshere, as if he does not need surgery he could be back in time to help out over the busy festive fixture list. If not, though, and the Gunners have to without Jack and Arteta, that central midfield area looks to be spread as thinly as Marmite on toast.

Any more injuries and we will struggle to get to the January transfer window and avoid disaster.
