Arsenal closing in on their BIGGEST piece of the jigsaw!

If reports from ESPN are to be believed, it seems as though the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has already made contact with Southampton over the transfer of Morgan Schneiderlin, who has been on the club’s radar for quite some time now. After having been denied the chance to leave last season as a result of the mass exodus from St. Mary’s, ESPN reports that Southampton have assured the player that he will be allowed to leave this season, but for the right price.

While the report does say that Arsenal are yet to make a formal bid, the news of the Saints being approached in regards to Schneiderlin will come as music to the ears of all Gooners, as most of us know that Wenger’s interest in the holding midfielder is indeed genuine, considering the fact that a move was made for his services last season as well. Now although the Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is also keen on his former player’s services, Schneiderlin has made it clear that he wants to play Champions League football, which blows Spurs out of the race for his signature.

With the player admitting his desire to take his career to the next level on a number of occasions and the Saints boss Ronald Koeman stating that he will be allowed to leave this season, it seems an inevitability that Arsene Wenger will bring his compatriot to the Emirates in this summer’s transfer window, especially now that an approach seems to have been made.

Personally, I believe that Morgan Schneiderlin is the most complete defensive midfielder in the Premier League at the moment. Along with his great ability to read the game and make tidy interceptions and challenges, the French international is also extremely good with the ball at his feet and is very adept at keeping the ball moving in midfield, switching the play and also playing a killer pass to the forwards. Looking at all these attributes, there is no doubt that the Schneiderlin is indeed the perfect fit for Arsenal’s midfield and I hope that Le Prof can bring him in as soon as possible.

  1. Nobody is talking about Morgan’s lack of pace and mobility.. we want an improved, or at d least, another Coquelin. We need players who can cover grounds for Per’s intelligent positioning. To me, Morgan is only a more physical Arteta, who wl easily b outran by opposition’s counter, wen we r pressing high.
