There will be a lot of speculation around Arsenal in the next couple of weeks and possibly well into the January transfer window. After Arsene Wenger admitted that he was still looking to add at least one centre back to his Arsenal squad, many people think the Frenchman already has his top targets in mind.

One of those is reported to be the West Ham and New Zealand international star Winston Reid. Not only has the 26-year old got plenty of international and Premier League experience and is having his best season since joining West Ham back in 2010, his current contract is due to expire in the summer.

So you would think that Reid could be available to the Gunners at a low price, but not according to his manager Sam Allardyce. The Hammers boss is determined to hold on to his star unless someone pays serious money in January according to a Daily Express report. Big Sam is well aware of the interest from Arsenal and our rivals Man United and perhaps he is trying to use that to increase the price.

Allardyce said, “He isn’t going anywhere.

“He is not going anywhere unless someone bids £20m or something like that. There is obviously not a lot I can do about that.”

He also knows that we are both pretty desperate for defensive additions, but will that force us to pay anything like £20 million for a player that will be available for nothing in six months?
