Arsenal Injury List Update. Good News Ahead Of Spurs Clash

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger has good news ahead of the derby match against Tottenham Hotspur, as it seems that he won’t have to improvise a back line after all even though it seemed that way until a few days ago.

Koscielny’s injury against AC Milan and Gibbs’ fragility were worrying for the Frenchman who thought he’d be back in the situation where he would have to use several defenders out of their natural positions.

The good news is that Koscielny is in for a fitness test but his injury is progressing excellently and it seems that his knee will be fit for action before the Spurs match. Gibbs will also have to undertake a fitness test ahead of the match but it also seems that everything will be okay with him too.

Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh seems set to miss the derby as coach Banfield confirmed after seeing him go off with the same toe problem in the reserve game against Norwich.

‘Marouane had a bad toe coming into this one but to be fair to him he wanted to give this game a go. But he could only last for half an hour and he had to come off,’
Wenger seems to have a full back line of four with Sagna, Koscielny, Vermaelen and Gibbs ready for the Spurs match. Now all he has to do is figure out whether to use Chamberlain up front or Arshavin who scored a brace against Norwich this week.

  1. I would use arshavin chamberlain and gervinho in a 442 putting walcott on the bench with ramsey djourou rosicky benayoun etc

    szcesney
    sagna koscielny vermaelen gibbs
    chamberlain arteta song gervinho
    arshavin
    rvp

fabianski djourou ramsey rosicky benayoun park walcott

    1. I disagree on few points. Arshavin should never start a game because he lacks the pace and the fire to go against the oponent players fresh legs. He might come in as a sub for the last 15-20 minutes in the attacking mid-field position if Resicky gets tiered. AOX should always start on the Right wing where he proved effective against left footed defenders and I would start coquelin before Arteta to solidify the midfield.

  2. Is not the issue of who is fit or not, the truth is we don’t have a team and we should stop deceiving ourselves. With all our players fi we cannot beat spurs, because we lack character. Arsene must overhaul the whole team, infact our first choice goalkeeper should be a back up not the first choice. Wasting money by buying under 14 0r 16 players should stop and let us buy mature players. Let us start preparing for next season period.

    1. you right mate …. We need to start preparing for next season …. Sczn, ox, ramsey, walcot, gibbs should be our second choice we need mature men with characters..

  3. We dont have players, arsenal need talented players b4 arsene can succeed, arshavin shud not be used in d 1st 45 min ,ramsey, chamakh ,walcot ,djorou should be on bench.

  4. Wenger shld stop deceiving himsef and go out for players who ar mature and capable of changing d club. It has been very shameful and painful seeing d down fall of d club, sometin need to be done fast before it is too late.

  5. what matters to concentrate on this weekend match with spur and win it but i prefer chamberlain and gervinho to play the wings and arteta, song and rosicky to play in the midfield and the this is the best formation for us to win against spurs on sunday

  6. I wish sharmak still be in arsenal cos he is headically talented, and he can improve with crossouts by the midfielders and defenders, he is sure talented provided arsewenger use him
