Arsenal Lead The Chase For Milan’s Full-back

2

Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger played without any full-backs in the match against Manchester City and started the game with Vermaelen on the left and Djourou on the right.

Djourou’s halftime substitution due to an injury sustained in the first half obliged Arsene to move the whole defensive team one spot to the right. Vermaelen came in the centre, Koscielny on the right and Miquel had to play on the left side. That’s when Arsenal’s problems really started to begin and the defence couldn’t take care of City’s attack anymore.

For that reason Wenger is now looking for possible transfer targets for the January transfer market opening, and he’s hoping to find somebody suitable.

Milan’s full-back Taye Taiwo is one of Arsenal’s target, and with Newcastle now out of the way according to Pardew, the Gunners shouldn’t encounter problems in signing the former Marseille man. Newcastle was linked with Taiwo, but Pardew declared:

“There’s no interest. I don’t know anything more about that.”

This could be one of the first transfers in January, but Wenger seems interested to change things a bit as he told reporters after the City game that incomings in the attack and midfield are also possible.
