According to the latest Arsenal transfer rumours, Arsene Wenger has made a last minute move to hijack the transfer of Loic Remy from QPR to Chelsea. The French striker was the talk of the football world yesterday, in England anyway, as he was left out of Harry Redknapp’s squad shortly before their win against Sunderland.

And it seemed that his transfer to Chelsea to cover for Fernando Torres, who has joined AC Milan on loan, was done and dusted. But the Daily Mail then reported that Arsenal had entered the fray and had matched Chelsea’s offer. So now the 27-year old France international has a straight choice to make, if the reports are true.

Now you might think that the Gunners had the best chance of persuading Remy to sign, because of the French connection with Wenger and a fair few players, as well as giving him the chance to follow in the footsteps of his football hero Thierry Henry, but not necessarily.

Wenger has already passed up the chance to sign the striker on a few occasions and only wants him now because of the injury to Olivier Giroud. That might not sit well with Remy, but then again he would be much more likely to play regularly with us and Jose Mourinho has not exactly got a great reputation with strikers, especially after slating Torres, Ba and Eto’o last season.

So have we left it too late, or will Remy choose Arsenal?

  1. Rumour is Joel campbell has asked for a transfer after being left out of today’s squad to play Leicester and hearing of arsenals and to replace giroud with a new striker. Wenger has agreed to let campbell go if he can get remy, the fee for campbell could be the same or wenger would prefer a loan fee, but unless campbell signs a new contract with arsenal that won’t happen and he will be sold.
