Arsenal pick up momentum in Premier league

2

If Arsenal keep going like this they will win everything this season! Not long before the season started, Arsenal fans and pundits alike were predicting doom and gloom at the Emirates. Arsene Wenger had apparently lost the plot and the Gunners were going to struggle to make the Europa league. Robin van Persie and Alex Song were irreplaceable and Arsenal was being sold down the river.

One person who did not seem concerned was Le Prof. After two goalless draws, people were clamouring for a purchase or two on deadline day but the silence from the Emirates was deafening. The despair and fury of Arsenal fans was tangible, but is evaporating now like dew on a summer’s day. The same pundits are now hailing Arsenal as a force to be reckoned with and the odds of them winning a trophy this season have dropped to 2/1.

The inherent weakness in recent Arsenal teams has been the defence, but the influence of Steve Bould and the confidence and experience that comes with playing together and keeping clean sheets seems to have that problem fixed. The midfield actually looks better without Alex Song. The return of Abou Diaby and the arrival of Santi Cazorla gives us great creativity and drive, while the discipline and control of Arteta helps the defence and attack alike.

Once the goal drought was broken against Liverpool, the confidence has grown and the goals are starting to come from all over the team. It is only a matter of time before Olivier Giroud gets off the mark and Arsenal will go from strength to strength.

  1. Arsenal was not facing any problem in the first games as people stipulated. Look at the log table: it is only sunderland and stoke outside the top 4 that are yet to lose after 4 games. It means Arsenal were not bad but that the opposition was good

  2. I really wonder if Wenger takes his time to read some of this articles
