Arsene Wenger has built himself a great reputation at Arsenal for putting faith in young players. The Frenchman has nurtured and improved some real stars during his time in north London, both before and after the financial constraints placed on his transfer budget with the building of our state of the art new stadium.

As well as the heavy investment in the Arsenal academy, Wenger and his scouting team have always kept a lookout for the best young talent around the world and it appears as though our manager has found us a real gem. Because if Arsenal are willing to pay something like £5 million for a 16-year old who will not even be coming to the club for at least another year, as a report by The Mirror claims, then he must be something pretty special.

Maxi Romero is the name of this Argentinean football prodigy and although there are some issues with joint ownership, his agent and the president of his current club Velez Sarsfield have revealed that the Gunners are very close to sealing the deal. Romero who has been likened to the great Leo Messi, will then stay with Velez and complete his apprenticeship before heading to the bright lights of the Premier League.
