Arsenal set for 3-way transfer tussle over TOP transfer target

If, as many Arsenal fans are hoping, it is the Southampton and France international star Morgan Schneiderlin that Arsene Wenger wants to sign to bolster the midfield of the Gunners, it looks like the manager is going to have to get very serious.

The Prof is also going to have to spend some big money and somehow persuade his fellow countryman that Arsenal is the better option for his future football career than our Premier League rivals. It has already been widely reported that our north London rivals Tottenham were very interested in taking Schneiderlin from Southampton and now, according to a report in The Mirror, they have been joined by Manchester United.

Apparently Louis van Gaal has identified the talented all-round Frenchman as the ideal player to replace his reliable English midfielder Michael Carrick, who is now 34-years old. So it looks like Wenger is going to have to play ball with the Saints and cough up the £27 million that they want for their star, or risk losing him to one of our direct rivals.

The one advantage the Gunners do have is that, if we were to try and sign him in the January transfer window, we could dangle the carrot of at least two Champions League games against Monaco and a very good chance of a place in the quarter-finals. So come on Wenger, strike while the iron is hot!
