Arsenal set for HUGE January transfer swoop on La Liga?

There are bound to be hundreds of Arsenal transfer rumours for us Gooners to wade through before the closing of the upcoming transfer window at the end of January, with all sorts of players in all sorts of positions linked with a move to north London.

Some will be more believable than others but as we do not really know what Arsene Wenger is thinking but we are used to the Frenchman letting very little slip before any transfer deal is in the bag, we can only go with an educated guess.

If I was to have to put money on the truth of this latest story about the La Liga star Jan Oblak reported by Metro then I would have to put my stake on it not happening. Not only does the report talk about the Atletico Madrid star having a release clause of an eye watering £85 million but he is a keeper and that is not really a problem position for us.

Oblak is only 23-years old and the report claims that Wenger has already tried to sign him more than once. Even if that is true, though, it might just be a plan for the future from the Frenchman and I cannot see him wanting to spend big money on a goalie when we already have Petr Cech and David Ospina, never mind the fact we just gave a new long term contract to third choice Emiliano Martinez.

I think the football press are barking up the wrong tree on this one don’t you?
