When the Arsenal transfer rumours told us last week that the French club AS Monaco had rejected a pretty hefty bid of around £30 million for their young French winger Thomas Lemar, I for one though that would be that and Arsene Wenger would move on to other transfer targets.

However it does not seem to have put off Le Prof and neither do the reports that said that Lemar’s club were asking for a ridiculously high figure in the region of £80 million if Arsenal were to persuade them to sell, because the Daily Mail are reporting that the Gunners have gone back to Monaco with a bigger bid for the talented 21-year old.

If this is true then we must really want him because despite the very impressive figures of 14 goals and 14 assists for his team last season, the price is still high. The paper claims, though, that Wenger has now offered £40 million and that even if this is rejected as well, Arsenal are still fairly confident of getting our man.

Does this prove that the Arsenal fans calling for Wenger to go were wrong and that he is not set in his ways and has realised that things need to change in north London if we are to reclaim that EPL title?

  1. Why not get Mahrez instead? He’s cheaper, as good and he has Premiership experience.
