Arsenal tipped to sign top Serie A goalkeeper

Arsene Wenger’s search for a top quality goalkeeper might have come to an end now that the Serie A star Samir Handanovic expressed his wish to get a transfer to a “great club”. It’s well known that the Frenchman is looking for a goalie he can bring to Arsenal as soon as possible to cover for Fabianski’s and Almunia’s expected departures.

Polish goalie Fabianski is expected to leave in the summer after expressing his frustration on several occasions regarding the situation in which he’s forced to be the reserve of his fellow Polish national Wojciech Szczesny ever since Lukas got injured over an year ago.

Udinese’s Samir Handanovic, a Slovenian international, who proved his incredibly smart form against Napoli again at the weekend keeping out a penalty from Cavani and another few extraordinarily hard shots, is ready to make the move if an offer from a big club comes along, and perhaps Szczesny could do with a little more competition for the first XI spot.

“I am ambitious, but if I leave Udinese it will only be to sign for a great club. The president knows this so I am calm.”, said Handanovic.

Wenger’s trying to solve his deals early in the season and avoid being caught off guard again, so it’s expected to see a bit of movement at Arsenal in the beginning of the summer transfer season.

  1. Mr Wenger is a politician, he’ll always give us false hope. I pray he should be for real this time.
