With results and performances starting to get better for Arsenal, the manager’s claim the other day that the Gunners should not be written out of the race for the English Premier League title just yet is not looking quite as blindly optimistic as before.

And with the Champions League and FA cup trophies to play for as well, Arsenal fans will still be hoping for another piece of silverware to celebrate at the end of the season. But Arsene Wenger will also know that a key signing or two in the January transfer window will go a long way to helping to achieve that goal.

So the news in The Mirror that Arsenal could be set to lose out on two top transfer targets is not what we want to see. And the claim that it could be two of our big EPL rivals that swoop for Pedro Rodriguez and Julian Draxler makes it even more of a concern.

Struggling Liverpool are said to be very keen on the Barcelona and Spain international forward and they are apparently willing to match his La Liga club’s £25 million valuation. And big spending Man United are willing to throw more big money at Schalke to beat the Gunners to Draxler, who is currently injured but is supposed to be fit again by January.
