With the January transfer window just a couple of days away, Arsenal fans are hoping for some early business to be done by Arsene Wenger. There are reports that the West Ham and New Zealand international defender Winston Reid is likely to be the first player the Gunners sign in January, in a deal worth around £4 million.

And according to a report in the Daily Mail he could be joined at the Emirates stadium soon after by the young Portugal international star William Carvalho.

Although the 22-year old defensive midfielder is not in the same contract situation as Reid, he is believed to be keen to move and his current club Sporting Lisbon apparently know that he is not going to sign a new contract extension.

That and the fact that the Portuguese club were knocked out of the Champions League group stage this season has got the Gunners believing that a decent offer of around £20 million might just convince them to cash in on Carvalho in January.

And if we get the bid in nice and early, it gives them plenty of time to spend the money on a new player or two. So will Carvalho be the second Arsenbal signing of 2015?
