Although it meant that Arsenal had to miss out on one of our top transfer targets last summer, I have to admit that I was quite impressed by the way that Ronald Koeman and Southampton dug their heels in and managed to hold onto their midfield star Morgan Schneiderlin.

But it appears that the south coast club have already accepted that they will not be able to repeat the feat this time around. According to The Telegraph they have offered the Frenchman a bumper new deal that would make him the highest paid player at the club but they do not expect it to be enough.

Even if they do secure a place in the Europa League, Schneiderlin has his eyes on a bigger prize and for Arsenal to finally get him all we have to do is agree to pay the transfer fee of around £25 million. The paper reckons that the transfer could be done very soon after the season ends and that would be a great start to the summer for Arsene Wenger.
