We know that the Arsenal manager is a fan of the France and PSG midfielder Yohan Cabaye, because he tried to sign the player from Newcastle United last summer before he was snapped up by the French champions in the following January transfer window.

But Arsene Wenger apparently did not offer enough for the central midfielder, roughly half of the £20 million that PSG paid. We will have to wait and see whether his current club will demand most of that amount to let him go, but I doubt it.

Cabaye has failed to impress his manager Laurent Blanc, although he has not had the amount of chances on the pitch as he would like, which is why his fellow Frenchman Olivier Bernard, who also played for Newcastle and now writes for the local paper there, has declared in a Chronicle report that Cabaye will definitely be heading back to the Premier League in January.

Bernard is clearly hoping that the 28-year old goes back to his former club, but he believes that the player is really looking for a club in the Champions League and that makes Arsenal the strong favourites, with Liverpool also thought to be keen.
