Arsenal fans, even if they are not following Roy Hodgson’s England in Brazil, have plenty of reasons to be interested in group D of the World Cup finals. Mario Balotelli, of course, and the two Gunners in the England side, but it has also given most of us the first decent look at our young striker Joel Campbell.

The 21-year old is certainly going the right way about achieving his goal of actually playing for Arsenal next season, rather than being on our books and playing for another club on loan. And as a report in The Daily Star shows, the talented 21-year old is ready and eager to convince Arsene Wenger that he merits a place in the Gunners’ squad, by inflicting more misery on the Three Lions (more like kittens) when they meet Costa Rica in the final group game on Tuesday.

Campbell said, “Can we beat England? Yes, of course. We have a good team and it’s another game like playing against Uruguay and Italy.

“We have to play very strongly but we can win.”

With Hodgson likely to make wholesale changes, the two Arsenal lads should play, as long as Alex Oxlade0Chamberlain is fit, so Jack Wilshere and the Ox can give the boss their own thoughts on the Costa Rican. Having outshone every striker in the group bar Luis Suarez, though, you would have to think that one more good game from Campbell will seal his chance to shine at the Emirates. Do you agree, or do you think a loan move to another Premier League club might be best?
