With Arsenal currently at their pre-season training camp in Austria, it is a good chance for our newest signing Calum Chambers to meet up with his new team mates and for Arsene Wenger to begin to integrate the youngster into the Arsenal way of doing things.

And the former Southampton star could be seeing some action on the pitch a lot quicker than many of us thought. The Gunners face two games in the Emirates Cup this weekend, with Portuguese side Benfica on Saturday and then AS Monaco from the French Ligue 1 on Sunday. Arsenal fans will be hoping for a better performance than last weekend’s defeat in New York, but Wenger has some problems to deal with.

Because of the World Cup, Per Mertesacker will not be playing and there is still no sign of our club captain Thomas Vermaelen, even though the other players that reached the same stage in Brazil are already back. So with Chambers known to be versatile and with central defence one of his possible playing positions, I wonder if Wenger is thinking of putting him alongside Laurent Koscielny this weekend.

Chambers is right footed, while the Frenchman is a leftie, so it would be a natural pairing and would be a good experience for the new boy. To be honest, the only options are for Nacho Monreal to move inside again of for one of the academy players like Hayden or Miquel to get the nod. Who would you go with?
