Johan Djourou is stuck in no-mans land behind Arsenal’s top three centre-backs of Thomas Vermaelen, Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, and if none of them get injured next season (fat chance!) then he will only get the occasional run out in the Carling Cup.

This will put his international career at risk if he’s not playing, so the Switzerland manager Ottmar Hitzfeld has urged to him to move to club where he can play first-team football on a regular basis.

“For Djourou, the question arises of a transfer,” Hitzfeld said. “If he wants to be selected, he must have some game time in the club. This is not the case at Arsenal.”

Arsene Wenger obviously thinks that Djourou is simply just a squad player, and gave him a contract extension until 2015 earlier this year, but how many Arsenal fans would be more than happy to see him replaced by someone just a little bit more efficient?

    1. djourou must go along with walcott arshavin, scuillachi, ramsey
bendtner chamakh all under achievers not good enough to wear the arsenal shirt, lack of effort.which of the afforementioned
chase back when they give the ball away, they seem happy just to collect their extortionate wages and do nothing for it

  1. wenger did not give djourou a contract this year, he simply exercised a contract extension option that was open to him that also included a salary increase. he was on 30k a week and his extension meant he could add 2 more years to his contract and increase his salary to 50k, without any further negotiations.

    1. just loyalty is not enough,we need effort and commitment as well.we need players who will give 100% like ray parlour ,lee dixon ,nigel winterburn, tony adams steve bould and martin keown used to.

  2. johan is going nowhere and from what i heard from my source… A bid came in for Song from madrid and it does include nurih sahin and madrid also gave arsenal clear run on the m’vila race as they were the top favorite before now. If arsenal should announce the arrival of m’vila this week, then have it at the back of your mind Song is leaving!

  3. @ paul,name and straight…didn’t i told u guys that djourou is leaving. U guys didn’t believe me.

  4. Bull, Song going nowhere. He was one of our best players. Djourou is a good defender, just needs more playing time, not only to be thrown in th deep end all h time. Maybe he must feature in all Carling cup and Fa cup games
