There are a few new Arsenal transfer rumours doing the rounds since the January window closed a couple of weeks ago. Some may have some truth behind them and some may be possibilities but there is definitely one that is not going to happen.

According to a Metro report the Gunners are all set to complete the signing of the Barcelona and Brazil international defender Dani Alves in the summer.

The 31-year old is out of contract with the Catalan club at the end of the season and negotiations over a new deal have hit a couple of obstacles, money and length of the deal. So the Spanish media believes that he will move and and that Arsenal and Man United are the two clubs battling to get him, with Arsenal set to offer a better contract.

There is so much wrong with this I donĀ“t know where to start, but here goes: Barca have a transfer embargo so will not want to let him leave and they can surely offer more money than us, as can United despite their debt repayment. Wenger does not offer our own 30+ players long contracts so why would he do so with Alves?

And last but not least, there are already three good right backs at the club in Debuchy, Bellerin and Chambers. Case closed!
